On May 4, 2009, Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas set sail on her first Caribbean cruise from her new homeport at Port Canaveral. More than 4000 excited onlookers showed up at Jetty Park with banners, flags and cameras to wave bon voyage to the Freedom of the Seas.
